FIRE APPARATUS TRAINING

This program is designed to improve the knowledge and skills necessary for firefighters that operate fire
department apparatus. The training is conducted at your department’s location and can include
on- duty and /or off -duty personnel.

 

Training includes both classroom and practical applications.

• NFPA 1901 Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus 2009 Edition
• Legal aspects of driving fire apparatus
• Driver liabilities,
• Apparatus maintenance for a safe response

• Auxiliary braking devices
• Traction and tires
• Steering systems
• Automatic tire chains
• Differential locks
• Inter-axle differential controls
• Electronic Stability Control systems.
• Safe driving speeds
• Proper stopping techniques
• Turning fire apparatus
• Passing Vehicles
• Positioning apparatus
• Backing Apparatus
• Intersection safety
• Safe driving techniques.

Practical applications:
• Apparatus Inspection
• Air brake test
• Driving skills course.

Fire Apparatus Driver Training can be customized to your departments needs and is designed for both new and veteran members of your department.

 

Firefighters completing the training will receive a Certificate from Greenwood Emergency Vehicles Training Division.

We are available to meet with your insurance carrier to determine if the Fire Apparatus Driver Training program meets their Driver Training Course Discount Requirements

Emergency Vehicle Technician: F-1 Maintenance & Inspection
Emergency Vehicle Technician: F-2 Design & Performance
Emergency Vehicle Technician: F-5 Aerial Fire Apparatus

Instructors: Greenwood Emergency Vehicles Instructors have acquired NFPA certifications, Emergency Vehicle Technician Certifications, and are State Fire Academy Instructors
