F.A.Q.’S

Why is there water in the transfer case of my fire pump?

Answer:

There are two reasons water gets into the transfer case. (1) The pump cooler could have a leak. (2) The pump packing could be leaking. When the pump packing leaks, the water will find its way down the impeller shaft and through the transfer case seal.

How often should I do a Chassis & Pump Service and Pump Test?

Answer:

The Chassis & Pump Service and Pump Test should be done annually according to manufacturer specifications.

What kind of trucks does Greenwood Emergency Vehicles work?

Answer:

We can work on any manufacturer’s truck. We perform all annual services and testing. Greenwood is an authorized dealer for Hale, Waterous & Darley pumps, On-Spot and Whelen. A complete evaluation of your fleet can be done per your request.

Who should I call when a check engine light comes on in my truck?

Answer:

Call our Service Department first. We can evaluate the problem and advise you on how to proceed. A check engine light will turn into a stop engine light if not corrected.

Can I drive my ambulance if the suspension air bags in the rear will not go up?

Answer:

No, this can cause a serious problem with the driveline and air bags.

Why do my warning lights and light bar draw more amps than they did when the truck was new?

Answer:

As the lights get older the motors and gears get worn and it takes more amps to move them. The way to correct the problem is to upgrade to LED lights. We can quote you on a complete upgrade for your truck. Contact our Service Department for pricing.
